Underage Drinking Attorney in Oxford and Hamilton, OH
The consumption of alcohol is a common element in much of the socializing that young people engage in. Students at Miami University and throughout our area face serious consequences that could dramatically impact their future, both in the short and long term.
Underage drinking is considered a first degree misdemeanor that carries up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine as consequences for a conviction. Miami University students who are caught drinking underage face a separate proceeding before the university in addition to their criminal proceedings. If the university finds you intoxicated twice or in possession of alcohol three times, you will be suspended for at least one semester.
These consequences need to be taken seriously, and steps need to be taken to protect a young person's future against such dramatic consequences as jail, being kicked out of school or having to face the challenges of building a future with a criminal record.
